The Sr. Performance Engineer will have a broad understanding and a deep knowledge of Performance/Load testing and strategy. The Sr. Performance Engineer should be able to independently perform all aspects of performance testing including test script development, scenario design, test execution and test analysis. They will deliver performance quality services using industry standards and best practices. This role will work to improve the reliability of software applications and IT systems. The Sr. Performance Engineer will be responsible for documenting essential work products such as performance risk and issues, performance activity plans and performance requirements, including SLAs and volumetrics, along with performance monitoring and scalability for the program.
Flexible Work Policy: The work for the Sr. Performance Engineer position is completed remotely anywhere in the United States except Hawaii or United States Territories. This position may have the potential to travel up to 20% dependent on business needs.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Understanding NFRs, including SLAs, volumetrics, performance monitoring and scalability. Validating requirements with business stakeholders.
- Work with development/test teams to develop performance test plans and cases.
- Setup and configure performance testing tools to gather test results.
- Prepare test data for performance/load testing.
- Measure & manage performance metrics. Develop testing metrics and analyze low performance software systems bottlenecks.
- Develop a performance testing approach using automated testing techniques.
- Conduct system performance testing to ensure system reliability, capacity and scalability.
- Analyze root causes of performance issues and provide corrective actions.
- Run manual tests wherever necessary.
- Review and recommend improvements to existing test procedures.
- Analyze test results to determine next steps and to provide development teams with recommendations on performance tuning.
- Generate Performance test summary reports for team and management review.
- Understanding how the high-level designs support the performance requirements and identifying performance risks.
- Planning activities to mitigate critical performance risks.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- 5+ years of experience in Software Quality Engineering.
- 4+ years of experience in Performance Testing
- Experience working in public cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Hands on experience with test automation tools for mobile and web.
- Advanced knowledge of test engineering practices within an Agile SDLC methodology.
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related technical degree required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- 2+ years of experience with Continuous Testing frameworks (e.g., Bamboo, Git, Smartbear, Postman, Sonarqube) is preferred.
- 2+ years of experience with UI & API test automation tools, particularly in Java / Python stack (Selenium etc.) is preferred.
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills, issue identification and technical documentation skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated team player with a results-oriented track record
- Experienced with Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience working in a distributed team of onshore / offshore engineering resources.
- Experience defining high-level Performance Test strategy based on Continuous Testing best practices.
- Have experience or familiarity with one or more of the following technologies: Python, Java, Node.js, Angular, SQL, Kafka, Containers, XCUITest, Selenium, JUnit, Postman, Smartbear, Sonarqube.
- Passion for high-quality code, tests, CI/CD, documentation, and addressing recurring problems with software solutions.
- Hands-on experience in Performance / Load Testing using tools like Neoload/Jmeter/Loadrunner.
- Hands-on experience in Functional Testing.
- Should have strong problem solving skills in Java/Javascript/Ruby/Python.
- Should have worked on Microservices/Cloud native based testing projects.
- Knowledge of Automation testing.
- Experience on API Testing(Postman/Soapui/Rest Assured).
- Strong Experience of working in Agile (Scrum/Kanban) Environment.
The following information is provided in accordance with certain state and local laws. Compensation depends on experience, geographic locations, and other factors permitted by law. In Colorado, the expected compensation for this role is between $78,700 and $120,000. In New York City, the expected compensation for this role is between $92,800 and $120,000. In California, the expected compensation for this role is between $88,200 and $120,000. In Washington, the expected compensation for this role is between $88,200 and $120,000. This role is also eligible for annual incentive plan bonus.
